Ex-Miami Dolphins wide receiver Chad Johnson could be forced to serve at least one year in a state prison for allegedly assaulting his wife August 11 in Davie, Gossip Extra has learned.
While Johnson was originally charged with a misdemeanor for which he’d be unlikely to see the wrong side of the bars, his slapping a girlfriend in 2000 in California could force authorities here to upgrade the current case to a felony – with possibly 12 months in the big house!
Word is Johnson, formerly Ochocinco, pleaded no contest to assaulting that woman, whom he accused of cheating. Just weeks later, he reported to Oregon State University to play college ball.
Eventually, Johnson, 34, was sentenced to community service, which included cleaning up graffiti. He completed his debt to society in 2002 and went on to play for the Cincinnati Bengals.
Because of that prior incident, however, the Broward County State Attorney now could kick the current charge up to a felony, and mandatory prison.
“Florida law indeed gives that power to prosecutors,” said Fort Lauderdale attorney Paul Molle. Molle isn’t representing Johnson but specializes in domestic violence cases. “Whether the previous incident happened in California or Florida, it doesn’t make a difference. I’ve seen it done with other suspects.”
It’s unclear whether prosecutors are planning to do that with Johnson.
“Our office does not disclose our filing options with the media before charges are filed,” said State Attorney spokesman Ron Ishoy.
Johnson’s lawyer didn’t comment.
He is accused of head-butting wife Evelyn Lozada, a star of the VH1 reality show Basketball Wives. She has filed for divorce.

Wow! So this all started initially with Usher MERELY seeking more visitation rights for his 2 boys who were in the custody of their mom Tameka Foster (who recently lost her 12 year old in death from a boat accident). RIP Kile. But now it seems the tables has turned as an anonymous source tells the media folk that the Judge has ordered Ex Wife of Usher Raymond Tameka Foster to have several seats (in an empty stadium) after receiving the results back from Tameka Foster’s psychological exam. WOW! Her exam was ordered upon the request that Usher take a drug test. He finally agreed pending Tameka would submit herself to a psychological evaluation. Uhhh Ohhhhh! I don’t like the sounds of that. Poor Meka. What next?

A person with knowledge of the decision said a judge ruled Friday that the 33-year-old singer will have primary custody of Usher Raymond V and Naviyd Ely Raymond. The person was not authorized to release the information and spoke on condition of anonymity.
Usher, whose real name is Usher Raymond IV, married Tameka Foster Raymond in 2007. They divorced two years later. Tameka Raymond fought for full custody of their sons while Usher initially asked for more visitation rights.
Usher testified in May that Tameka Raymond spit at and tried to fight his girlfriend during one visit and alleged that his ex-wife hit him during the dispute.

The secrecy surrounding the sale of what is believed to be South Florida’s largest single-family house this summer has been as extreme as Nicki Minaj lyrics.

Officially, a company called S Vision LLC bought the 30,300-square-foot, 9-bedroom, 12-bathroom behemoth in Weston’s triple-gated community of Windmill Ranch.
But several real estate sources tell me rap/hip-hop mogul Ronald “Slim” Williams, the co-founder with his brother Bryan “Birdman” Williams of the Cash Money Records, is behind the mysterious corporation.

Cash Money, by the way, is home to some of today’s hottest hip-hop acts, including Minaj, Lil Wayneand Drake, among others.
So, it’s understandable that Slim, who’s nicknamed The Godfather, has plenty cash money. Broward County records show he didn’t even have to get a mortgage for the $7.15 million-purchase, at the edge of the Everglades just west of Fort Lauderdale.
According to realtors’ description of the joint, next door to Miami Dolphins legend Dan Marino’s old house, the property boasts nearly four acres of land.
It’s got an indoor pool, and an outdoor grotto-style swimming hole with a beach.
There’s an indoor tennis court, a wine room, a full-fledged movie theater, and much more.
Someone who was at the house earlier this year when Slim made one of several visits told me the music mogul was particularly enthused with the 6,000-square-foot (yep, you read right!) multi-purpose room.
Needless to say, no one’s talking. Previous owner Nilsen signed an agreement in which he swore to keep his mouth shut – or get sued for millions!
Slim’s publicist didn’t respond to a request for comment.
According to our friends over at the Huffington Post someone was obviously having one too many Martini’s or not enough Martini’s and too much of that other stuff. NEWARK, N.J. — Autopsy results released Thursday show that a 2-year-old boy was alive before he was decapitated, and his mother, who authorities said killed him, died from a self-inflicted knife wound to the neck.
Police found the body of 2-year-old Zahree Thomas in the family’s Camden rowhouse early Wednesday. His head was in the freezer. His mother, Chevonne Thomas, stabbed herself in the neck minutes after placing a rambling, sometimes incoherent call to 911. Thomas told a dispatcher that she had stabbed her son.
Thomas lost custody of the boy in 2010 after admitting to police that she smoked marijuana laced with the hallucinogenic drug PCP, blacked out and left Zahree alone in a car. She regained custody in April 2010 under an order signed by Judge Angelo DiCamillo of Camden County Superior Court’s Family division, according to Tamara Kendig, a court spokeswoman.
Kendig said all standard procedures for placing a child in a home, including substance abuse, mental health and parenting skill evaluations were carried out in Thomas’s case.
Jason Laughlin, a spokesman for the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office, said it will take weeks for toxicology tests to come back. But there were indications that Thomas might have still been using drugs, Laughlin said.
Thomas told 911 dispatchers she was on the anti-depressant Prozac but didn’t take it that day.
“I didn’t take it today, but I should have. I should have,” she said.
The case raises questions about New Jersey’s Department of Children and Family Services, which has been under federal oversight for more than a decade. Agency spokeswoman Kristine Brown said it’s still investigating the circumstances of Zahree and Chevonne Thomas’ deaths.
The department said Wednesday it had an open case on the Thomases and its “staff visited with the family regularly, and was in communication with all service providers.” The state said it provided the family with substance abuse testing, reunification services, counseling and other services.

No, you’re not getting to the front page of the NYT by hiring an Italian desert chef. You get there by NOT trying to do it yourself — you hire a pro.
In your case, you may not be trying to get featured in the NYTimes. You might be targetting the WSJ. You might be targetting Vogue, Car and Driver, Mashable, TC, or any number of print or web publications. Regardless, the process is the same as making tiramisu. Hire someone who’s done it before.
Introducing the 100 people who’ve done it before. Find out what industries and media outlets they specialize in. Take them out to a fancy lunch. After all, they take the editors of your favorite blogs and print pubs out to the same.

I see clients all the time of my colleague’s either trying to do everything themselves or not sitting back and allowing the publicist to do what they do to help “YOU” CLIENTS!!! Get to where you need to be. It’s a LOT of Work. It’s never good to toot your own horn. Representation and relationships mean everything in this business. Utilize the people you have working for and with you. The boosters and the naysayers and those who just want to be around to be in the mix. I say “Let em GO head with that!” Again congrats.
