Vinny Curry #Rookie Philadelphia Eagles defensive end “Doesn’t Need a Holiday to Remember His Mom’s Love”

Vinny Curry is truly cut from a different cloth. This Big Ole Teddy Bear will soon be able to display his Mountain Lion skills on the field that I’m willing “to bet 5 Martini’s” will lead the Eagles all the way to the Super Bowl! It’s Mother’s Day each time Eagles rookie defensive end Vinny Curry plants his right hand in the ground.

Tattooed on the right forearm of Curry, the second-round pick out of Marshall, is the image of Linda “Cissy” Jackson, his biological mother, who passed away last October.

“She was a strong lady,” Curry said. “Very independent. Very, very independent. One of the strongest people I knew. Even though she was fighting that cancer, she was still trying to do normal things. Even carrying that tube around, she would carry that tube around everywhere to pay her bills and everything. She was a very strong lady.”

Jackson died from liver cancer. The tube Curry spoke of was used in her treatment. Her selfless routine never will be forgotten. There were moments Curry wished his late mother had taken care of herself before she made sure he and his brother Thomas were fed. It was tough. Tough, just like this Mother’s Day.

“It’s a special day,” Curry said. “This is the first one without her. Everything will get better. Everything will get better.”

Difficult as it is to measure progress at a rookie camp, Curry seems to be getting better on the field. He is quicker than he imagined. If nothing else, this camp gives him the first baseline of what it will take to keep pushing on to the next level.

“My 100 miles an hour from the college level has to be 200 miles an hour here,” the 6-3, 266-pound Curry said. “I’m having some fun. Usually I’m more energetic, hyper. But right now I’m just trying to learn everything. I don’t want to jump the gun yet. Basically I’m just really trying to prove myself. This is a different speed. So my 100 miles an hour, I just need to get into a little bit better shape.

“I’ve just got to keep pushing.”

Lamar Odom May Never Play Basketball Again! Wow! #Thanks Khloe!!!

Lamar Odom continues to make headline news. Why couldn’t he just finish out the season? Did he ask Ms Cleo about the future of the Mavericks and try to get an early leave just to say he wasn’t responsible for them loosing in the playoffs? Hmmmmm #Speculation. An NBA source tells HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY that Lamar will have a hard time being traded to another team because of his age, horrible stats and his role on reality TV!

It looks like Lamar Odom has potentially screwed up the rest of his career — and it seems Khloe Kardashian is partially to blame! Earlier today, it was announced that Lamar, 32, will no longer be playing for the Dallas Mavericks. While Lamar’s age and horrible play this past season drastically decreased his value, an NBA source says that the Dallas Mavericks will have a difficult time trading him because of his emotional stability. “Many teams that would have been interested in him previously have now expressed that he will not be a part of their off-season plans,” reveals a source close to the NBA.

“Losing Lamar may be the best thing for the team,” says another source. “Dallas will do much better in the playoffs if they don’t have to deal with the ‘headache’ of Lamar Odom. They are sick of answering the Lamar question and want to focus on repeating as World Champions!”

Lamar’s departure from the Mavericks will be immediate, however he will remain listed as “inactive” for the rest of the season instead of being released outright. Doing so leaves the possibility that the Mavericks could still trade him after the season in conjunction with the draft. Any team that has Lamar on its roster as of June 29 must buy him out of his contract for $2.4 million or otherwise accept responsibility for the full $8.2 million that Lamar is scheduled to earn in the 2012-13 season.

While details of his payday still remain unclear, one thing is for certain: Lamar will not be at Staples Center on April 15th when the Dallas Mavericks face the LA Lakers.

Though Lamar is understandably upset about the news, a source close to Mavericks’ owner, Marc Cuban, says, “He is disappointed, but knows it’s the kind of thing that goes with the job.”

Dr Shaquille O’Neal Earns his Doctoral Degree in Florida! (VIDEO) Congrats SuperMan! U Did IT!

Like all things done by the 15-time All-Star, movie star, rapper, actor and entertainer, O’Neal, 40, received his degree in Organizational Learning and Leadership with a specialization in Human Resource Development in style.

And here’s the best part of it. O’Neal did not just squeeze through the cracks to get the highest degree possible in American education. He achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.813 while completing 54 credit hours at Barry — mostly through online courses and video conferencing over the last four years. His Doctoral Capstone Project was titled: “How Leaders Utilize Humor or Seriousness in Leadership Styles.”

Wearing a bright red XXXL-sized robe, the 7-foot, 1, 325-pound retired center got on one knee on stage so Dr. David M. Kopp could place a light blue hood around his big neck. O’Neal celebrated by standing up and lifting up Kopp like Tarzan rescuing Jane. The moment, which was being captured by TV cameras and student’s cell phones, brought on loud cheers from the crowd.

O’Neal then walked over hugged Terry Piper the dean for the school of education before posing for photos with his cap, gown and hood like all the other students. On his way back to his seat, alongside his manager Cynthia Atterberry, who also received a doctorate in education, O’Neal strolled by a star struck row of graduates handing out high-fives like he was walking past teammates on the bench.

Shaq joins a very elite group of current and former athletes who completed the highest degrees before, during or after their playing careers.

GA Firefighters Extinguish 4 alarm blaze at Tyler Perry Studios!

Now I was coming out of the Phillips Arena after having several Martini moments when the Boston Celtics managed to beat the pants off the Atlanta Hawks! I got in my car and in my mental agony of anticipation of sitting in traffic to get out the parking lot, I decided to charge  my very much dead blackberry. Well, as soon as my phone was getting its mojo back I started receiving text messages back to back to back regarding a fire that broke out at Tyler Perry Studios. I was hoping this wasn’t an evil act of a hater or ex employee. It’s really a shame how we as people of color just can’t manage to have nothing without another person of color envying what we have so bad they wish to destroy it. Atlanta fire officials say they have put out a 4-alarm blaze at Tyler Perry Studios that damaged a building at the complex.

Crews Battle 4-Alarm Fire at Tyler Perry Studios:

Atlanta Fire Department spokesman Capt. Jolyon Bundrige says there were no reports of injuries from the fire that started before 9 p.m. Tuesday. Officials said in a news release it was extinguished about an hour later. He says the cause of the fire and the amount of damage to the complex was not immediately known.

A spokesman for Tyler Perry did not immediately comment Tuesday evening. The studio’s website says the complex includes a 200,000-square-foot studio, five sound stages and a 400-seat theater in southwest Atlanta.
